Yard Sale, Oh dear

Cannot keep this a secret, I have a crazily, unreasonably, enormously huge passion for flee markets,  yard sales, antique fair, junk sale, 2.hand, flohmarkt, loppemarked- oh dear God, it’s a never-ending craving beyond my control. And even though I would at any time surely prefer being at yard sales in London, New York, Los Angeles, I feel fortunate, that this town is filled with loppemarkets (loppe=flee) in the summertime. It’s almost good enough for me, to compensate for me not being in LA. Almost. And in winter -  we have numerous very well organised indoor antique markets.

Will definitely keep you updated here, no excuse to miss out on some free fun, you might even get a hideous but cheap souvenir with you home.

Every Friday and Saturday during the summer, May to September, we have a very tourist minded open air antique fair Ved Stranden, København K, 9am-17pm. Here you will find Royal Copenhagen plates, stoneware, collectables, old brass lamps and copper kettles. No clothes. Hard to make a really good deal, the sellers are often professionals with antique stores and does this for a living.

One of the really cool and hip fairs for the young and trendy, loads of clothes, shoes, kids stuff and accessories are at Onkel Dannys Plads, Halmtorvet 13 København V, every first coming Sunday in the month, from May to October, 10am-4pm

Søllerød Loppemarked, in a parking lot across from the City Hall in Holte north of Copenhagen, app. 20 minutes ride with the S-train from Nørreport (take the train towards Hillerød or Holte) is one of my absolute favourite flea markets. Open from April to October, every Sunday 8am-2pm. Very good deals to be made, fashion designer brands, kids stuff, but less collectors items. Private sellers, very few professionals. You might be lucky to find a genuine Prada handbag or Gucci shoes for 50$. Website: www.birtetove.dk.

Lyngby Loppetorv, in a parking lot across from Lyngby Storcenter, another favourite market. Same set up as in Holte, Every Sunday 8am-2pm from May 15 to  September 25. 80 booths. Website: www.lyngbyloppetorv.dk

Lyngby Loppetorv

More to come when time is available.

Well, gotta go, have some flee markets to attend to…
